NATIONAL Apprenticeship Week is upon us.
The week runs from February 1-5 and celebrates the talent and skills of apprentices across the UK.
It will see apprentices, employers, providers and others showcase the benefits of apprenticeship programmes and the value apprentices bring to the organisations they work for.
National and regional activities will be taking place throughout the week, and each day will have a different focus.
Events include job swaps, breakfast briefings and apprentice challenges.
Among those supporting the week is DIY chain B&Q.
The chain has announced plans to more than double the number of apprentices signed up to its retail apprenticeship scheme to 300 and, for the first time, has extended applications to external candidates as well as currently employed staff.
B&Q currently has 130 staff completing its first Retail Apprenticeship Programme, who are all on track to achieve it this July, including 70-year-old, Terry Robinson.
